E-commerce and social media are becoming more and more popular among consumers. Still, AYTM Market Research says that people aren’t interested in using either platform for direct purchases.
While—in one occasion or another—most people have purchased something on the World Wide Web, a sizable 34% of AYTM’s survey respondents said they don’t want to use Facebook to make purchases.
Most companies have already integrated commerce into their Facebook profiles. However, the integration has yet to boom as many forecasted. The challenge for marketers is to make social media purchases more interesting.
In terms of connection and engagement, social media provides the perfect venue. Consumers use the sites to learn about a company’s latest offerings or even its next events.
