Meet the librarian and the rest of the bookworms in the Literary Lunches Book Discussion on September 17, from 2:30 pm to 1:30 pm. The Adult Book Discussion will run regularly, every Monday afternoon, starting on this day.
If you happen to know the Girl in Translation (2010) by Jean Kwok or interested about this book, then you should not miss the discussion. The Girl in Translation is starred by Kimberly Chang who has emigrated from Hong Kong to Brooklyn squalor with her mother. From there, she has begun a secret double life, living as an exceptional schoolgirl at daytime while being a Chinatown sweatshop worker at night time. The thrill was on her disguises and difficult hiding of the truth in her life like the overwhelming degree of her poverty, the burden with her family’s future, and her secret love for a factory boy who shares none of her talent or ambition. The story points out Kimberly’s pursuit to constantly translate not just her language but herself back and forth in her difficult world.
If you are interested of this story, make sure that you show off at the Hilton Garden Room on the 17th. For more information about this discussion, visit http://www.eventkeeper.com.
