Don’t miss the chance to be a part of the Ikebana Demonstration and Exhibit happening on September 12, 2013 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Levenson Community Room of the Portsmouth Public Library.
Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement, also known as kadō. As opposed to western flower arrangement which is centered on the blooms’ colors, it emphasizes various areas of a plant including its stems and leaves. It also draws emphasis toward shape, line and form.
This event is presented by the members of the Kittery Point Ikenobo Chapter who will be showcasing the wonders of this ancient art.
They will be demonstrating four Ikebana styles, each of which have a distinctive character and arranged with a specific pattern in mind.
The arrangements will then be placed at an exhibit at the Library lobby. This can be viewed until midday on September 14th.
