Facebook is getting plenty of competition for the attention of teenagers. Based on the latest metrics, the popular social media site is losing ground when it comes to conquering the teen demographic.
Research from YPulse indicates that teenagers are veering away from Facebook and exploring different social media options, including Foursquare, Tumblr, and Pinterest.
Reps from Facebook say that they’re supportive of other social media websites, which are mostly inter-connected to one another.
Despite its recent drop in Wall Street, Facebook managed to increase unique visits by 5% last April. However, experts say that the social media site’s “cool factor” is slowly diminishing.
The site has been around for more than eight years. Pitted against younger and more exclusive sites, Facebook just doesn’t have the cool edge anymore—not as much as it did in the past at least.
To compete against smaller and mobile-friendly social media sites, Facebook has increased its activities for mobile interaction.
