Microsoft is talking about acquiring Yammer Inc., an operator of a social network for businesses.
Sources say that Microsoft may pay more than $1 billion to buy the company, and the deal could be closed by tomorrow unless negotiations fail.
The addition of Yammer will add a social-media dimension to Microsoft’s corporate consumer products.
Yammer, which was established in 2008, is used by more than 200,000 companies, including Ford and EBay. Its tools, which are likened to Facebook, are designed for internal corporate use.
As of press time, both companies have not issued statements about the deal.
