Visit the past and learn about the greatest generation as archived in the 1940 U.S. Census this May 30, 2012 at the Portsmouth Public Library from 7:00 to 8:20 pm, as Christine Sharbrough of the Derry Public Library shares the importance of releasing the 1940 census and how to best navigate it.
This program is part four of the Preservation Month lecture series on the 1940 U.S. Census which includes the following activities:
- Preserving Memories: Maintaining Family Photos, Personal Papers and Memorabilia with Melissa Mannon (May 7, 2012);
- Portsmouth Public Library Special Collections Open House (May 17, 2012);
- Preserving Memories: Digitizing Community Collections (May 21, 2012); and
- Learning to Use and Navigate by Christine Sharborough (May 30, 2012)
Sharbrough shall be discussing how to properly use the non-indexed information from the census about the war and depression era families. All these lectures are free and open to the public.
