This June, the National Basketball Association will be hosting its first Social Media Awards, celebrating players, teams, and fans for their online social engagement throughout the 2011-2012 season.
The event will be hosted by Rick Fox, Shaquille O’Neal, and other analysts.
The NBA Social Media Awards will celebrate and recognize the best moments of the 2011-2012 season. The nominated moments will be separated based on which engaged the fans the most.
The NBA Social Media Awards will be divided across numerous categories, recognizing activities in different social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter. Some of the categories include: Best In Game Award, The LOL Award, and the Social Slam Award.
Fans can vote from June 6 to June 18 for their favorite moments through nba.com/sma. Fans can also vote through Facebook.
“The NBA Social Media Awards was developed as a fun way to recognize our fans, players and teams which have contributed to the league’s leadership position in the social space,” said Christina Miller, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of NBA Digital.
